Mary S. MARTIN

Mary S. Martin, professional artist since 1976, her oils and watercolors bring her joy while living in the countryside and her choice of subjects is eloquent. Her landscapes of the Eastern Townships, and rural scenes of England are very popular. She also likes to paint work horses as well as the flowers in her garden. Over the years, she has been elected as a signatory member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor (CSPWC), the Canadian Society of Watercolor (SCA) as well as the Institute of Figurative Arts (IAF).

Among her recent prizes and distinctions, she won the Maurice Domingue Prize (2013), the Line Boisvert Prize (2008, 2013) and the Grand Prix du Salon - SCA (1987). She distinguished herself by winning, on three occasions, the Second Prize at the Salon des Peintres de la Fleur, as well as a Second Prize at the members' competition of the SCA.

In 2010, the five works she presented were accepted by a jury at the “Inspired by Nature” exhibition held at the Bennington Center for the Arts, as well as at the Bryan Gallery on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Vermont Nature Conservancy .

Her work “2 Flats” received an honorable jury mention at the prestigious “Land and Light” exhibition at the Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville, Vermont. In 2018, her painting “After the Rain” won “Best in Show”.

Twice finalist in the international competition “The Artist's Magazine”, she exhibited at Salmagundi, New York, NY. She has also been selected for exhibitions by the Western Colorado Watercolor Society and the San Diego Watercolor Society. One of her paintings was chosen to be part of a book published by the editions "International Artist Magazine".
